His Majesty's Consul-General at Canton is making

every effort to secure a settlement of this case on the

above lines, but the attitude of the Chinese Authorities

there is so uncompromising that His Majesty's Minister is

compelled to repeat his waming to the Chinese fovernment

that, unless a settlement is affected forthwith, a claim

will be presented for full compensation for the losses

Buffered by the Green Island Company from the date of

interference with their legitimate business until auch

date as their stone-purchasing operations are once more

freed from all restrictions.
